Number one: Dr. Fauci has probably had about enough fun to last a human being for one lifetime.
Number two: He’s 79 years old. He has been the Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases for 36 years. One hopes there are some highly qualified candidates to succeed him.
Number three: The Faucian Bargain is unraveling now.
Number four: If he’s fired, he’ll have one hell of a platform from which to speak, free of any need to equivocate in the face of Trump’s bullshit. That platform will be useful if Trump decides to trust his instincts over medial advice.
